Privacy and Security

How your trips are kept private

  • Three checks to view a trip. A viewer needs the driver's Trip ID, that journey's 6-digit PIN, and must enter an email address the driver invited to that specific journey.
  • Access doesn't carry over. An invitation covers one journey only. Knowing a driver's Trip ID from a past delivery gives no access to their future trips.
  • Guessing is blocked. Repeated failed attempts to open a trip or log in are temporarily locked out.
  • Trip IDs are random. They can't be worked out from one another.
  • Encrypted connections. The whole site runs over HTTPS.
  • Card payments via Stripe. We never handle or store full card numbers.

How long data is kept

  • Journeys: 12 months after completion, then permanently deleted with their location data.
  • Unfinished journeys: a journey that is never started within 30 days, or stops sending positions for 7 days without being completed, is deleted automatically.
  • Continuous driver location (company accounts): 3 days, then deleted.
  • Location is only collected while a journey is active, or — for company drivers who have switched it on — during the working hours they've chosen.

Frequently asked questions

Do viewers need to download an app or create an account?

No. Viewers only need a web browser and the invitation email.

Is journey.delivery free?

Yes, for individual drivers — with no time limit. Companies managing multiple drivers pay a subscription based on fleet size. See the pricing page.

Does it give drivers directions?

No. journey.delivery shows progress to the people waiting; drivers keep using their preferred navigation app.

How often does the map update?

The driver's phone reports its position regularly during an active journey, and the viewer's map refreshes on its own every few seconds to pick up the latest one.

What happens if the driver loses signal?

Viewers see the last known position and when it was recorded. Tracking catches up when the connection returns.

Can I share a trip with someone after it has started?

Yes. The driver can invite additional email addresses to a journey at any time.

Can someone I forwarded the tracking email to see the trip?

Not unless the driver invites their email address too. That's deliberate — it keeps the driver in control of exactly who can watch.

Can I see a delivery after it's finished?

Yes, for 12 months, using the same Trip ID, PIN and invited email.

Can a company see its drivers' personal trips?

Company admins see the journeys their drivers run under the company account.

How do I cancel a company subscription?

From the Billing page, open the billing portal and cancel there. No phone call or email needed.

How do I stop marketing emails?

Every newsletter or announcement includes an unsubscribe link. Trip invitations and alerts relate to journeys you're part of and are sent regardless.
