Create and Sharing a Journey

This guide is for drivers — whether you're an independent driver on the free plan or a driver set up by your company.

Step 1 — Get an account

  • Independent drivers: register for free with your name, email and a password. You can save your vehicle details and a default load description in your profile so you don't retype them every trip.
  • Company drivers: your company admin creates your account. You'll receive an email with a temporary password — log in and change it straight away from Change password.

Step 2 — Create a journey

  1. From your journey list, choose New journey.
  2. Start point: defaults to your current location. You can change it by searching for an address or business name.
  3. Destination: start typing an address or business name and pick it from the suggestions.
  4. Vehicle: company drivers pick a vehicle from the company's fleet list; independent drivers use their own vehicle details.
  5. Load description: required. Describe what you're carrying for this trip (for example, "3 pallets of tiles" or "furniture — 1 sofa, 2 chairs"). Viewers see this, so keep it clear and professional.
  6. Save. journey.delivery plots the road route, calculates distance and estimated travel time, and gives the journey its own 6-digit PIN.

Step 3 — Invite the people who need to see it

Open the journey and add the email address of each person who should be able to follow it — your customer, your dispatcher, whoever is waiting. Each invitee immediately receives an email containing:

  • a tracking link,
  • your Trip ID, and
  • the journey's 6-digit PIN.

Only invited email addresses can open the journey, so you don't need to worry about a forwarded email. Invite people before you set off so they're ready to follow from the start; you can add more later if needed.

Step 4 — Start the journey

When you're ready to leave, tap Start. Your phone begins reporting its location and the map goes live for your viewers. A few tips:

  • Allow location access when your phone asks — without it, nothing can be shared.
  • Keep journey.delivery open on your phone during the trip. Phone browsers limit location access for pages running in the background or with the screen locked.
  • Use whichever navigation app you like alongside it. journey.delivery shows progress; it doesn't give directions.
  • If you lose signal, viewers see your last known position with the time it was recorded. Tracking resumes when your connection returns.

Step 5 — Complete the journey

When you arrive, tap Complete. Every viewer is sent an arrival notice, and the journey moves to your history. The completed route, vehicle and load details remain viewable with the same Trip ID and PIN for 12 months.

Good habits

  • Double-check the destination before saving — the route, distance and alerts are all based on it.
  • Only invite people who genuinely need to watch the trip.
  • Don't post your Trip ID and PIN publicly; let the invite emails do the sharing.
