Two features take the waiting and the guesswork out of deliveries: automatic email alerts while a journey is under way, and a lasting record once it's done.
Automatic alerts
Every invited viewer receives email updates as a journey progresses. No one has to sit and watch the map to catch the moment that matters.
Longer trips (over 200 km)
- 25% of the way there
- Halfway (50%)
- 85% of the way there
- Within 10 km of the destination
- Arrived
Shorter trips (200 km or less)
- Within 1 km of the destination
- Arrived
These are the standard alert points and may be refined over time.
How alerts are worked out
- Progress is measured from the driver's latest reported position against the journey's destination. Proximity is calculated as an approximate direct distance, so a "within 10 km" alert may arrive a little before 10 km of road remain — it's a heads-up, not a countdown.
- The Arrived alert is sent the moment the driver marks the journey complete.
- Each alert is sent once per viewer per journey — no repeat emails for the same milestone.
- Alerts come from journey.delivery and are about a trip you've been invited to, so they don't depend on newsletter preferences. Check your spam folder if you're expecting one and it hasn't appeared.
Journey history
When a journey is completed, it isn't thrown away. For 12 months afterwards, anyone who was invited can open it again with the same Trip ID, PIN and their email, and see:
- the full route driven, start to finish, on the map,
- the driver and vehicle details, and
- the load description for that trip.
Why that matters
- Proof of delivery. Show when and where a delivery was made.
- Resolving disputes. "It never arrived" or "it was late" can be checked against the actual route.
- Reviewing operations. Companies can look back over drivers' completed journeys from their dashboard.
After 12 months, the journey, its PIN and its location data are permanently deleted.
